Bad breath is one of the first signs that something is amiss. <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides foul breath, other symptoms of dental disease in pets include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Excessive drooling (especially in cats)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Loose or discolored teeth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red, inflamed, or swollen gums<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bleeding<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Obvious tartar buildup<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Loss of appetite\/difficulty chewing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Loss of interest in chew toys<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pawing at the mouth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swollen muzzle<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preventing Bad Breath in Pets \u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your pet relies on you for all their health and wellness needs, and this includes oral hygiene. Treating and preventing bad breath in pets means taking an active role in their dental care, which should involve the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Daily brushing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Brushing your pet\u2019s teeth on a regular basis is the single most effective way to improve their oral health.
