Run your hands along their back, neck, sides, and belly (they will think you\u2019re giving them a nice massage) and make a note of any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beverlyhillsvets.com\/blog\/pet-lumps-and-bumps-how-serious-are-they\/\">lumps, bumps<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beverlyhillsvets.com\/blog\/focus-on-fleas-and-pets\/\">other abnormalities<\/a>. Let your veterinarian know if you are concerned about anything you find on your pet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safe and Simple Home Pet Grooming<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We feel better when we\u2019re clean and presentable, and so do our pets. A solid home pet grooming routine consists of the following:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Brushing<\/strong> \u2013 Brushing is the cornerstone of any grooming regimen. Daily brushing significantly reduces shedding, while keeping your pet\u2019s coat breathable and free of dirt, dandruff, and mats.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bathing<\/strong> \u2013 Keeping up with your pet\u2019s regular bathing schedule throughout the winter will help them stay clean and fresh, no matter how many walks through the mud and snow they take. Make sure your pet is completely dry before letting them back outside.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ears<\/strong> \u2013 Not all pets need their ears cleaned regularly (your veterinarian can help you determine an ear cleaning schedule), but do take time to inspect the inside of the ears. Give us a call if you notice a foul odor, scabs, or discharge around the ear canal.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nails<\/strong> \u2013 Trimmed nails are a must to prevent pain, nail injury, and trouble walking. During the winter, pets that are used to having their nails ground down by long walks on asphalt or pavement in nicer weather may need extra trims.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Paw care<\/strong> \u2013 Snow, ice, salted roads, and chemical deicers can do a number on your pet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beverlyhillsvets.com\/blog\/winter-paw-care-101\/\">sensitive paw pads<\/a>. You can keep their tootsies in great shape by wiping them with a clean towel each time they come in from outside, making sure to remove chunks of ice and other debris. For added protection, consider applying some<a href=\"https:\/\/musherssecret.net\"> paw wax<\/a> before taking a trek in the snow.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Those pearly whites<\/strong> \u2013 Taking care of your pet\u2019s teeth may not seem like part of a home pet grooming routine, but it should be for every pet owner.
